Welcome to the Stafford Legacy!

This is the tale of Emory Stafford, a princess from the 1600s that accidentally finds her way into our time. Please start from Generation 1: Chapter 1 (link in the side bar on the right) if you are new to the legacy!

Generation 1; Chapter 8: A New Life

Shortly after Emory had revealed her pregnancy to Thomas, the morning sickness really set in. With both of them gaining fame and publicity in the city, they decided it'd be best to keep the pregnancy and the wedding secret until everything had settled down.

"A secret pregnancy out of wedlock," Emory said with a smile, thinking of the scandal. If the press knew about this, they'd have a cow.
"You make us sound like horrible people, Emory," Thomas teased. But Emory had another reason for an excuse to stay locked up in the apartment until the baby was born.

The night Thomas had proposed, Emory had made a terrifying discovery on the way home. Thomas' boss from work had been at the club, but Emory noticed something horribly new about him. His eyes glowed and he was a lot paler than she remembered.
She recognized these symptoms and was taken aback.

Walking right up next to him, she brushed his hand "on accident". Ice cold, just as she had expected. Thomas' boss had become a vampire.
People in Emory's time despised the creatures. They were hunted down and taken care of as soon as they were discovered. Emory approached Thomas about the situation.

"Don't be silly," Thomas had replied. "There are no such things as vampires." But Emory knew better. She started to notice a couple throughout the town. Terrified, she was glad to stay in the apartment to keep herself, and the baby, safe. She never did stop worrying about Thomas' safety at work, though.

Thomas bought Emory a maternity dress. Emory was reluctant to wear it because it was so flimsy and "modern", but she couldn't wear her restricting corsets while pregnant.

"Thomas, how are we going to make a family in this apartment?" Emory asked one day. "It's so small; even getting rid of my old bed, I don't even know if we can fit a crib in here."

"I've been thinking about that," he replied. "Emory, I think it's time we move into a bigger loft downtown. I've been looking at a place that's for sale, and I think it's perfect. We're both getting rather famous, I think we can afford it."

Excited about their new home, Emory made plans as she stayed in the apartment all day. She invited a few close, trusted friends over often to keep her company.

When it came time for the baby to come, Emory was reluctant to go to a hospital. "What even IS a hospital?!" she had yelled. But Thomas had insisted.

Despite Emory's dislike for the strange hospital equipment, she successfully gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, who she and Thomas decided to name Victoria.

And shortly after the baby was born, Emory and Thomas had a small wedding in the apartment with a few close friends. They would release the information together on the press when they were ready.

The new family, Emory, Thomas and Victoria, was now complete, ready for a move, and ready to start their new life together.
