Welcome to the Stafford Legacy!

This is the tale of Emory Stafford, a princess from the 1600s that accidentally finds her way into our time. Please start from Generation 1: Chapter 1 (link in the side bar on the right) if you are new to the legacy!

Also, please check out my visual art blog, An Artist's Journey, and give me feeback! I'm looking to learn and grow :) Link is embedded in the bold title.

Generation 1; Chapter 6: Calm Before the Storm

Weeks flew by and Emory didn’t even realize it. Perhaps it was because they were some of the best times she had ever had.

Rehearsals we’re going great for Music Epiphany. Emory had never played anything like their music, but was picking it up with ease.

The big gig was coming up. Soon, she would be playing in front of a huge crowd. Emory spent countless hours at the keyboard, practicing. Her life with Thomas was flourishing as well.

Ever since that wonderful night when they had finally revealed their feelings for each other, they never held back.

Whenever Emory saw Thomas, it was like her heart glowed warm. He was her guide in this strange world. He was her all.
What was to happen tonight, however, was even more unexpected.

“Emory, I have a surprise for you. I’ve invited Stella over. She’s going to take you out for a girl’s day of shopping and spa… ing and whatever else you ladies do,” he said with a smile.

“That’s so sweet of you! What is the occasion?” Emory asked. Thomas smiled mischieviously.
“That, my love, is a surprise. I’m taking you somewhere special tonight, and I want you to have a lot of “girl time” to prepare. Get a nice dress, hit up the spa… you know… that stuff.”

Emory giggled. “You are too kind to me.”
“Nothing is too kind for you,” Thomas said, kissing her sweetly.

When Stella showed up, she greeted Emory enthusiastically and whisked her out of the apartment.

For a brief moment, Emory was a little worried. She had never been out on the town without Thomas there by her side.

But she trusted Stella. Stella was the best friend she had, besides Thomas.

“This is going to be so much fun, Emory! Let’s go find you a gorgeous dress!”
And that is exactly what they found. It was a gown a lot closer to what Emory was used to. “At least some people still have some fashion sense,” Emory thought to herself.

“You’re so beautiful, Emory!” Stella said, admiring the new gown.
“Thank you!” Emory replied, gazing at herself in the mirror.
“Now let’s hit up the salon and get your hair all done-up for the big date!” Stella said, pulling Emory off in yet another direction.

The overly-enthusiastic hair stylist kept going on and on about Emory’s hair.

“Oh, darling, what I wouldn’t GIVE to have your hair! What kind of style are you looking for today?”

Stella stepped in. “Something romantic and classy!” Then the stylist worked her wonders.
When Emory’s look was complete, Stella just goggled.
“Oh, Emory! This is perfect! I now officially dub you ready for a night of romantic fun!” Emory looked at herself in the mirror. She had to give it to her, the stylist knew what she was doing.

Just then, there was a flash before Emory’s eyes, and she staggered a bit, trying to regain her vision. When she was able to see again, a woman she had never seen before came into her vision, holding a strange device.

“It’s the paprazzi,” whispered Stella frantically, “look cute!” Emory just did her best to smile at the camera. Afterwards, the woman came up close and cheered for Emory, saying she loved her work in the band.

After the lady left, Stella said quietly, “Looks like you’re becoming very popular, Em!”
It was true. She knew that in the city’s system of ranking local celebrities, she had two of five stars. The band hadn’t even had an official “gig” yet, but they’d gotten publicity thanks to Emory’s strange new “fashion trend” and obvious talent on the piano.

“Have fun tonight, Emory! I had a blast today!” Stella waved as she took off, dropping Emory off at the apartment. Emory turned to see Thomas coming out of the elevator. Her heart leapt when she saw him.

He was mind-numbingly handsome when all dressed up.
“You look… stunning, Emory. Are you ready?”
